What Is a parti toy poodle?
A parti toy poodle is a purebred poodle that has at least 50% white coat color combined with patches of another color. The placement and size of these colored patches vary from puppy to puppy, making each parti poodle truly one of a kind. No two parti puppies have exactly the same markings, which adds to their appeal and uniqueness.
Popular parti toy poodle color combinations include:
-
Red and white parti
-
Apricot and white parti
-
Black and white parti
-
Chocolate and white parti
-
Silver and white parti
-
Cream and white parti
Their striking appearance often attracts families looking for a puppy that combines elegance with individuality.

The Parti is Controlled by the S locus (MITF gene)
The distinctive Parti pattern in Toy Poodles is created by the S locus (MITF gene), which controls white spotting. Parti Poodles inherit two copies of the recessive sp allele (sp/sp), resulting in a coat that is at least 50% white with patches of another color. The size, placement, and shape of these colored patches vary from dog to dog, making every Parti Poodle unique. While the S locus determines the amount of white spotting, other color genes determine the color of the patches, allowing Parti Poodles to appear in combinations such as red and white, apricot and white, black and white, chocolate and white, and many others. Genetic testing helps breeders identify Parti carriers and plan litters that can produce these beautiful and highly sought-after patterned puppies.
